Chief of Staff (Product and Engineering)
Are you the person who can't sit in a room full of loose ideas and half-made decisions without walking out owning the plan? We're looking for a Chief of Staff to turn client and market context into product decisions, plans, and commitments across Product & Engineering.
Why Etherealize?
Etherealize is building the rails to bring Wall Street into the 21st century.
With $40M in funding from Electric Capital and Paradigm, we are bringing together the best minds from Ethereum and Wall Street to rebuild the infrastructure that underpins the financial system — faster, safer, fully on-chain.
The infrastructure of global finance gets rebuilt once in a generation, and we’re in the fortunate position of being at the forefront of this shift. Our Chief of Staff will sit at the center of it all, working with our CTO to turn a sea of client and market context into detailed product decisions, launch plans, and company commitments.
What Will You Do?
You'll work with our cofounder and CTO across product, engineering, design, strategy, and the client work that shapes what we build:
- Be the right hand to Zach Obront across every room he's in. You’ll be a part of all internal and external meetings, absorbing critical context, brainstorming decisions together, and taking the lead on turning those decisions into direct action plans.
- Turn the roadmap into an operating rhythm. This rhymes with a Technical Project Manager role: breaking initiatives into workstreams, milestones, and owners; tracking the critical path across engineering, product, design, and the specialists who touch it (security, privacy, legal, BD, marketing). You'll also own how the team uses Linear.
- Take point on the ambiguous stuff. Scope and drive the high-priority needs that don't belong to anyone yet, with research, synthesis, and sharp first-pass thinking on new areas.
We don’t want to understate this. The right person in this role will evolve into a pseudo-founder, working with Zach across every facet of the organization. If you want clear, comfortable boundaries around your job, this likely isn’t the right fit. If you want on the ground founder training at a rocketship startup, you’re in the right place.
Who Are You?
You are the operator a small team can't run without, the one who absorbs everything and just makes it work.
- You want to be in office in Austin, Texas. This role is in-office (hybrid, 3-5 days per week) sitting side-by-side with our CTO.
- A high-agency operator, not an assistant. You have real reps running the engine of a fast-moving team, whether as a Chief of Staff, Operations Leader, Founder's Associate, or the de facto COO of a startup. You don't just capture someone else’s plan, you absorb enough context to make the plan yourself.
- Program and project management in your bones. You've turned strategy into executable plans, milestones, and owners before, and you're not learning it from first principles here.
- High-EQ connective tissue. You read clients, markets, and rooms on instinct. You catch what goes unsaid in a client meeting, remember the touchpoint a teammate's been waiting on, and hold together the quiet human threads that keep an exceptional leader and team in sync.
- Low-ego and high-initiative. You're energized by making the team win and comfortable being behind the scenes, while ambitious and sharp enough that people often peg you as a future founder.
- Unrattled by chaos and speed. You are deeply organized but also able to hold shifting, sometimes-conflicting inputs from multiple leaders and clients without dropping anything. You like moving fast, but also know when to slow others down to ensure alignment.
- Bonus. Product experience, fintech, financial-markets, or blockchain exposure are nice-to-have, but the right person will also be able to pick them up with exposure and dedication to learning.
What's In It For You?
- Founder training, for real. A front-row seat next to our CTO during the company's highest stakes stretch. You’ll be in every room where decisions are made, thinking through strategic implications across clients, product, engineering, and people.
- World-class coworkers. You'll be directly mentored by Etherealize's cofounder and CTO, but more importantly will work alongside an incredible team: Danny Ryan (led R&D at the Ethereum Foundation), Jay Katz (founder of ClearPar), and dozens of other amazing people from Goldman Sachs, Coinbase, Bloomberg, JPMorgan, Kraken, Blackstone, EigenLayer and more.
- Stories for your grandkids. Startups are crazy, especially on this trajectory. We have a lot of fun and make miracles happen weekly.
